Sirius Music presents a Night of Entertainment in aid of Children In Need 2017 (BBC)

On Friday 17th November 2017 , The Legendary Bridgehouse 2 live music venue in East London, opens its doors to the general public at 8pm, to host a night of Entertainment in aid of BBC Children in need,  Presented by Sirius Music.

Everyone involved will be donating their time and talent to raise money for this very worthy cause The well known and televised BBC Children In Need.

Children In Need’s first ever Children In Need fundraising event was held on Christmas Day in 1927. It was a five minute radio broadcast that raised £1,143, in 1955, the appeal was shown on television for the first time.

BBC Children In Need is the BBC’s UK Charity, since 1980 it has raised over £890 million to help make a difference to the lives of disadvantaged children and young people around the uk.

Pudsey The Charities famous Mascot made his first TV appearance in 1985 and instantly transformed the Children In Need brand. He was created by BBC designer Joanna Ball, and took his name from her home town in Yorkshire.

The late Sir Terry Wogan famously presented BBC Children in need  for 35 years until 2014, on January 31st 2016 he sadly passed away from Cancer aged 77.  Sir Terry hosted alongside Fearne Cotton, and many Celebrities from 1980 to 2014,  to date his friends continue his legacy.

Singer/Songwriter Katie Melua pays homage to Sir Terry with this years Children In Need single “Fields of Gold” one of Terry’s favourite songs.

Jo Wiskin (Sirius Music) qoutes: “I had the pleasure of meeting Sir Terry Wogan when I was personally invited with Lookalike friends into the audience of BBC Children In Need in 2005, he came and shook our hands and thanked us for our support and donation. Sir Terry was someone I enjoyed watching on TV growing up; when we met him he was so humble, so friendly, and such a Character”, A great loss to Children In Need and the Entertainment Industry.

Music has always played a huge part in BBC Children In Need, on Thursday 19th October, the BBC staged “Rock the 80’s”, a very special fundraising concert was held at the SSE Arena, Wembley, celebrating the decade in which BBC Children in Need’s first major appeal took place. Presented by Fearne Cotton and Sara Cox with Ross Kemp who reported from behind the scenes – Bananarama, Boy George, Erasure, Imagination – Leee John, Jason Donovan, Katrina and The Waves, Nick Heyward, OMD, UB40 to name but a few iconic 80’s stars , concert goers fully embraced the retro theme. This will be aired on Monday 13th November on BBC1.

Grime is making positive headlines

Grime music emerged from East London in the early 2000’s and is certainly an influential music genre for the young maturing males of the London area with many attempting to reach out through there own attempts and with the abilities of social media now, there is certainly an exposure to a vast audience.

Over the years, grime has become more mainstream especially with the original breakthrough of artists such as Dizzee Rascal, Kano, Wiley and Lethal Bizzle and then of course whilst around for many years, the more recent success of artists such as Ghetts, Skepta and the media sought after Stormzy; this no further evidenced with the 2017 Brit Awards and coverage of grime and the amazing performance of Ed Sheeran with ‘Shape of You/Castle on the Hill’ featuring Stormzy himself; and whilst no awards were won I am sure this was no less an award for grime and a show that there is certainly a demand for it…. We just cannot wait to see what comes next.
